The exhibition NAGASAWA ROSETSU: The Legendary Edo Master of Eccentric Painting opens today. This show is the first retrospective exhibition in Osaka for Nagasawa Rosetsu (1754–1799), one of the "eccentric painters" along with Ito Jakuchu and Soga Shohaku. Rosetsu has recently been attracting increasing international attention.
* A substantial proportion of the artworks will be rotated during the exhibition period.
Collaborative merchandise is going on sale at the exhibition to celebrate a rendering of the tiger in the work Tiger—being exhibited at the Kushimoto Okyo Rosetsu Art Museum at Muryoji Temple, Wakayama until November 5, 2023—together with the Hanshin Tigers baseball team, which, proving tremendously strong this baseball season, went on to win the Central League championship for the first time in 18 years.
