The total number of visitors to exhibitions at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka reached 500,000 on Friday, November 25, 2022. Since its opening on February 2, 2022, the museum’s exhibitions have enjoyed great turnouts, including its Opening Exhibition Hello! Super Collection—99 Untold Stories (with about 127,000 visitors), the Inaugural Special Exhibition Amedeo Modigliani (with about 146,000 visitors), and Okamoto Taro: A Retrospective (with about 163,000 visitors). And, now, thanks to everyone who enjoyed our shows, the museum has reached the milestone of 500,000 visitors, about ten months since its opening.
– Museum holds ceremony commemorating 500,000-visitor milestone
To celebrate reaching the 500,000-visitor milestone, Sugaya Tomio, Director of the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka presented commemorative souvenirs to Mizuno Chiharu from Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, and his friend Namima Uran. According to Mr. Mizuno, a student who is currently studying architecture, he visited the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka to view the newly opened art museum and see Into the Unknown World—GUTAI: Differentiation and Integration with his friend.

The ceremony ended with a repeat of the performance that took place at the opening of the exhibition Into the Unknown World—GUTAI: Differentiation and Integration (the Gutai Exhibition) being held on the fifth floor.
This performance, which was the work of Mukai Shuji, an artist exhibiting at the show who is actually a former member of the Gutai Art Association, commemorated the museum reaching the 500,000-visitor milestone with seven performers covered in symbols, one of the characteristics of Mukai’s work.

– Gifts commemorating 500,000 visitors to the museum
To mark the milestone of 500,000 visitors to the museum, starting today, November 25, all visitors to the exhibitions Toulouse-Lautrec and Mucha—Ten years in Paris and Into the Unknown World—GUTAI: Differentiation will be presented with an original Toulouse-Lautrec and Mucha—Ten years in Paris exhibition postcard, on a first come-first served basis.
