World Design in Osaka
Our design collection showcases movements in modern design that spread out in conjunction with the trends in Western modern art, starting with the Arts and Crafts movement of the late nineteenth century, and taking in Art Nouveau, followed in the twentieth century by the Wiener Werkstätte, De Stijl, Bauhaus, and the work of Finnish designer Alvar Aalto. With the deposit of the Suntory Poster Collection in 2012, comprising around 18,000 pieces, including precious works by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Alphonse Mucha, this is now a formidable graphic design collection that spans Japanese and international design.
