Karl Walser

2026-07-04 – 2026-09-27

List of works

Summary

Karl Walser (1877 – 1943) was a Swiss artist of the twentieth century. In Berlin, where Walser lived starting in his twenties, he painted distinctive works that hid deep meaning in graceful lines and colors. He was also active in other fields, including stage design and book illustrations. In 1908, he traveled to Japan, where he painted the customs and scenery of the country during the Meiji Period. This show is the first comprehensive retrospective of the artist's works in Japan.
